Memory serves as a portal, capable of transporting us to times, places, and dimensions that only exist within our minds. The surfaces in this house encapsulate and reveal the histories of its presence, and the absences of visitors and occupants who lived, died, worked, and performed examinations and surgeries here over the past 167 years. Shadows Investigations Vanishings envisions labors of making and remembrance as conductive in materializing the ethereal dimensions of time, feeling, memory, and value. Through these acts, meanings and connections are generated between humans and their world of places and things that can be shared with others and passed through time and culture as images and archetypes. Using this place to honor these impressions as physical relics that memorialize aspects of personal memory and cultural history, they become points of access to another time and place.

Joe Bartrams engages with the delicateness and complexity of the built environment in a world of global cultural and industrial production.

Gabriel Madan brings together several disparate memorials to his sister, reflecting on the fragmentary nature of memory in general, and the ritualism of loss and remembrance.

Charles Schoen presents Dykem Green, a sonic encapsulation on the theme Shadows Investigations Vanishing. Inviting the viewer into a landscape of sound that aims to be deeply associative and considerate of memory.
