Film Screening & Discussion at SPACES

Kick off Semana Santa with a special screening of the 1975 documentary Pedro Linares Artesano Cartonero, followed by a discussion with SHED co-founders Gabrielle Banzhaf & Jon Gott, exploring how this collaboration began in 2017.

Open Studio & Cartonería Demonstrations
Monday - Friday | April 14–19, 2025 | 12–5 PM | SHED Projects
The Linares family will open their studio at SHED, allowing visitors to witness their handcrafting process, engage in conversation, and even participate. Schools are encouraged to book tours for students to experience this cultural tradition firsthand.

Quema de Judas Festival – The Burning of Judas

Join us for the culmination of the Linares family’s creation—the public burning of a large-scale Judas figure, a tradition deeply rooted in Semana Santa history.

Following the Quema de Judas, SHED will unveil a curated exhibition featuring a mix of historical Cartonería pieces from Mexico City, works from Cleveland-based Latin artists, and new creations by Miguel Linares.
